Program Users
NPOESS brings together satellite operations, modern
communication, integrated modeling, and advances in computers to
serve a wide spectrum of users. Its mission is
intended to provide a continuing improvement in the accuracy of weather and
climate forecasts and is planned to meet civilian and US
military needs for many years to come. NPOESS delivers products to a variety of users. National and international weather, climate,
hydrological, and space weather analysis and prediction centers serve
the needs of billions of people nationally and worldwide.
Education and training for the user community is coordinated by the
University of Colorado's University Corporation for Atmospheric Research
through the COMET program.

- Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking (SARSAT )
- ARGOS
Other individual and institutional users include:
- Industrial/information providers
- Private weather forecasters
- International researchers and research centers
- Educators (high schools, colleges, universities)
